7 each switches, Single Pole, Single Throw (SPST) [SPDT may be substituted]
1 each switch, Double Pole, Double Throw (DPDT)
(switches are recommended to be either Toggle or Slide, depending on user preference)
14 each resistors, 1.5K ohms, 1/4 watt
14 each Light Emitting Diodes, bi-color (red/green), 2-lead
1 each DB25M connector, and related hardware (screws, etc)
1 each DB25F connector, and related hardware
miscellaneous wire, 20 - 26 gauge
solder
suitable enclosure (depending on user preference)
OPTIONAL
14 each test jacks (for testing and interconnecting signals)
7 each jumper wires, compatible with test jacks
@Assembly Instructions
1> Determine the placement of the switches, connectors, and L.E.D.s on the chassis (see reference drawing on RS232 B.O.B. geoPaint document)
2> drill all appropriate holes for components in (1) above, label enclosure appropriately
3> mount components in (1) above
4> Solder resistors between L.E.D.s
and each side of SPST switches.
5> solder other lead of ALL L.E.D.s
together
6> solder >2< jumper wires to DPDT switch, as indicated on schematic
7> solder >2< jumper wires from DPDT switch to 2 SPST switches, as indicated on schematic
8> solder wires from one connector, pins 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 20, to one side of switches, as indicated on schematic
9> solder wires from other connector, pins 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 20, to other side of switches, as indicated on schematic
10> solder wire from pin 7 of one connector to common wires for L.E.D.s
11> solder wire from pin 7 of other connector to common wires for L.E.D.s
@NOTE
: for slide switches, the button of the switch indicates which contacts are being used; for TOGGLE switches, the handle is OPPOSITE the contacts being used:
